DR. RICHARD TRAVERS

Dr. Richard Travers

Physical Therapist, PT, BS, MPT, DPT

I was born and raised in a suburb of Miami, Florida. It was a great place to grow up, as there were 365 days a year to play outside. My family moved to Marietta, Georgia, when I attended college. I graduated from Kennesaw State University, the Medical College of Georgia, and The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. I worked in restaurants as a cook during my teenage years and later worked as a deckhand/cook on a deep-sea tugboat, towing barges to the East Coast, Gulf Coast, West Coast, the Caribbean, Panama, and Mexico. Prior to becoming a physical therapist, I worked as a licensed massage therapist, which inspired me to become a physical therapist.

Here at Shift Therapy & Wellness, I provide patient education and hands-on therapy that increases joint flexibility, decreases muscle tightness, and increases balance and function.

Something patients have to deal with is that I want to help them realize that physical therapy does not have to be a painful process to regain mobility and function.

I enjoy treating orthopedic conditions, especially low back pain.

When I’m not working, I like get-togethers with family and friends, reading, exercising, and movies.
