The heel is rarely the whole story.
The plantar fascia is a strong band of tissue running along the bottom of your foot, and it works hard with every step. When the load placed on it outpaces what it can handle, the tissue becomes irritated and sensitive, especially first thing in the morning or after sitting.
What feels like a heel problem is usually a chain problem. Tight calves, limited ankle motion, weak foot muscles, and the way you walk all feed into it. Treat the chain, and the heel finally gets its chance to settle down.
Heel pain has a recognizable pattern.
Plantar fasciitis tends to behave in predictable ways. Recognizing the pattern helps confirm what is going on and rules out the conditions it can be mistaken for.
First-Step Pain
Sharp pain under the heel with your first steps in the morning or after long periods of sitting.
Arch Tightness
A pulling or tight sensation along the arch of the foot, especially when you flex the toes upward.
Pain After Rest
Discomfort that eases once you get moving but returns sharply when you stand back up after resting.
Heel Tenderness
A specific tender spot at the inside front of the heel bone that you can press and reproduce.
Calf Tightness
Stiff, tight calves and limited ankle motion that quietly increase the strain on the plantar fascia.
Pain With Standing
Aching that builds across a long day on your feet, on hard floors, or after a longer run or walk.
Calm the tissue, then build it back.
Treatment at Shift Therapy & Wellness starts by settling the irritated tissue and restoring the ankle and calf mobility that drives so much heel load. Hands-on work and targeted tools take the edge off the pain so you can move more comfortably right away.
From there we load the fascia and the foot the right way, build calf and intrinsic strength, and adjust how you walk and train. You leave with a clear plan and the understanding to keep heel pain from coming back.
No referral needed. Most insurances accepted. In most cases, you can be seen within the same week.
